Job Description
Production Assistant (Full time)

Simon & Schuster UK are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Production Assistant to join their busy Production department.

This is a varied position offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside the Production team on a wide range of books across our various imprints.

The role will focus on providing support to the Adult production division.

Responsibilities will include scheduling and ordering books via our Title Management database, managing assets and checking they meet required standards, troubleshooting delays and problems, monitoring schedules, liaising with printers and typesetters (UK & globally) and generally supporting the day-to-day running of the department.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with other departments so the ability to build and maintain relationships is essential. They will be a strong team player, have excellent communication and organisational skills, an eye for detail and the acumen to make sound independent decisions where necessary. Above all else, an interest in book publishing and production with a can-do positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential attributes, along with the ability to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload in an exciting and fast paced environment.

Although not essential, the ideal candidate will have some experience and knowledge of the physical production process.

A good understanding of MS Office, including Excel, as well as some Adobe and InDesign skills are highly desirable.

Application deadline:

6 February 2023.

We reserve the right to close applications early should we receive a suitable number of applications before this date. Therefore, if you are interested, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
