Simon & Schuster seeks a dynamic, ambitious Marketing Director for its flagship imprint. The Simon & Schuster imprint is home to a prestigious roster of established and emerging authors, and a distinguished list of bestselling, award-winning books. The imprint publishes across a variety categories with an emphasis on serious nonfiction as well as literary and commercial fiction. The right candidate will show initiative and drive to create, present, and execute multitouch marketing campaigns and then evaluate their efficacies. The Marketing Director will be central to the imprint's operations and work closely with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Further, the Marketing Director will, in time, oversee and drive the imprint's marketing for its fiction program, implementing best-in-class marketing strategies to introduce exciting voices to known and new readerships. The Marketing Director will closely collaborate with the Editorial Director on the entire lifecycle of the book, from acquisition to launch, developing and implementing exciting campaigns for books and authors that are expected to not only garner critical acclaim, cultural cache, and prize consideration, but sell widely and find both literary and commercial readerships. The right candidate will have a proven record of success in marketing fiction that is distinctive, fresh, and the ability to help grow author's careers. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to create and launch campaigns that are innovative, bold, and connect with audiences to move them from consideration to purchase to advocate.

Preferred candidates will have a strong understanding of the traditional and new media landscapes and a high confidence level with launching organic and paid multimedia campaigns, tracking and synthesizing data, working with multiple departments, and explaining results. Strong candidates will be very familiar with a book production timeline - from acquisition to on-sale to shelf life - and be comfortable synchronizing marketing activities throughout each phase. Candidates adept at social media strategy and content creation/marketing will also be preferred. Standout candidates will strive for campaigns with flourishes and style coupled with an understanding of business strategy, but won't balk at the idea of having to do a finished copy mailing or schedule social media posts. In time, the Marketing Director will supervise one, or some, direct reports.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with leadership aspirations who will bring enthusiasm and ideas every week. The potential is limitless to develop the role and a program that will be recognized across the company, if not the industry.

Responsibilities include:
• Conceiving and executing multitouch marketing campaigns with an emphasis on digital and social strategy
