The DC IE will play a key role in supporting and driving the Warehouse and Labor Management System and continuous improvement in all areas of the operation. You will be hands-on from your first day participating in workflow efficiency projects, time studies and special projects. This candidate will use their technical knowledge and skills to design, model, and analyze in order to make the warehouse productive. Examples of task related to this position include but are not limited to LMS & WM systems, fulfilment processes, engineered standards, budgeting, labor, production capacity and staffing models, facility design optimization work such as slotting and profiling, capacity management, material handling system, KPI reporting and operationalizing technology, change management and business process requirements and specification.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility of the Industrial Engineer is to provide expertise to the distribution operations in gaining efficiencies. This is achieved through developing and implementing engineering standards that result in lower cost per unit. It is also the responsibility of this position to understand internal & external compliances and works with all appropriate parties to ensure conformity. In addition, the Industrial Engineer will manage any configuration changes needed within the existing Labor and Warehouse Management system to make sure the systems configuration and processes are consistent among the warehouses.
Tasks:
• Maintain the current Labor Management and Slot Info System modules.
• Establish and maintain Engineering standards to analyze, reduce cost and determine manpower and equipment requirements.
• Develop labor planning plans based on productivity trends.
• Identifies documents and establish best practices utilized across the distribution centers through detail gap analysis.
• Develop and maintain Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) drawings of the distribution centers and other drawings required to support the execution of projects.
• Initiates cost reductions and cost avoidance by investigating and recommending cost reducing distribution capital equipment or systems.
• Identify capacity expansion opportunities and complete the associated feasibility studies.
• Understanding and translating process flows of the new warehouse system into documented procedures.
• Analyzes cost per unit and thru put data. Make recommendations as appropriate.
• Provides recommendations for identifying and mitigating bottlenecks by improving worker efficiency/utilization by restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, and relocating workstations and equipment.
• Proposes solutions and develops detailed plans for improved methods, procedures and workflow, equipment, layout, and information flows within the distribution center.
• Conducts feasibility, cost analysis and economic justification for proposed solutions.
• Develop, document, and communicate SOP's
• Support configuration & documentation of the existing Labor and Warehouse Management System and modules.
• Conducts audits to benchmark current performance and develop strategies for improvements.
• Identify cost savings opportunities within the distribution centers.
• Provide Data Analyses to Operations to help improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and improve labor utilization.
• Perform ergonomic risks analysis on all functions within the distribution center.
• Evaluates and modifies existing facility layout and designs new layouts by completing throughput analysis and making recommendations for changes.
Education:
B.S. in Industrial Engineering/ Logistics and /or equivalent warehouse experience
Skills required:
• 2+ years of experience with Labor Management Systems and Engineered Standards.
• 2+ years of experience of WMS systems and databases.
• 2-5 years relevant IE experience or comparable internship/co-op experience in a warehouse distribution center.
• 2+ years of data analysis.
• Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, MS Access, SQL, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to think on your feet.
• To develop and implement recommendations and to perform technical tasks with minimal direction.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks on time and within budget.
• Strong Interpersonal communication skill in order to collaborate effectively, build team consensus and influence others.
• Effectively communicate in writing and in person.
• Ability to understand & develop process flows.
• Ability to interact with all levels of management and peers
SCHEDULED WORK HOURS: Monday- Friday 8:00am -5:00pm
