Senior Manager, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

Overview & Responsibilities

The ESG Senior Manager will support ViacomCBS's ESG strategy and program development by focusing on Production and Facilities through an ESG lens and supporting companywide ESG program development.
Our ESG pillar ''Sustainable Production and Operations'' encompasses film & television production, broadcast, and streaming across 19 brands along with our global real estate footprint that spans 33 countries. Managing our ESG risks and showing industry leadership is important to our investors, employees, and viewers. In support of the ESG Senior Director and the ESG Council, the ESG Senior Manager will own the environmental goals, reporting, and strategy for ''Sustainable Production and Operations'', including:

Reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions

Reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 45% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 baseline

Source 100% renewable electricity by 2030 (or earlier)

Publish science-based targets by 2023

Responsibilities

Support annual ESG reporting and strategic alignment, particularly for ''Sustainable Production and Operations''

Guide strategy and measure progress against ESG and carbon goals with key stakeholders, including Production, Special Events, Real Estate & Facilities, Sourcing, Finance, Streaming, Technology, Government Affairs, CBS Sports, Television Stations Group, and others

Steer TCFD, SBTi, and other goal-setting frameworks and processes
Oversee emissions data collection, organization, and management across ViacomCBS

Manage carbon offsets program and accounting, along with validation and verification of our environmental goals

Capture and chronicle success stories to inspire industry-wide change

Support the Senior Director of ESG Strategy

Facilitate ESG Council working groups relevant to ''Sustainable Production and Operations''

Represent ViacomCBS on thought leadership groups relevant to ''Sustainable Production and Operations''

Sustainable Production

Lead sustainable production program and increase adoption across brands with unified guidance

Serve as a subject matter expert for production teams, providing related support to internal teams and partners

Liaise production-level in-kind and food donations with CSR team and programs

Build sustainability training for productions that addresses both physical production impacts and the power of on-screen content (the latter targeted to writers' rooms and art departments)

Sustainable Operations

Research, identify and recommend specific projects available to result in emissions reductions

Pilot clean energy technology to build business case for facility decarbonization

Leverage energy data to inform facility managers and incentivize change

Identify supply chain responsibility risks and opportunities, work with responsible sourcing function to guide, monitor, and implement Scope 3 emissions reductions

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; preferred Sustainability, ESG focus/concentration

Deep understanding of the entertainment industry and physical production

Experience with real estate and facilities management, particularly renewable energy installations and efficiency projects

Additional Qualifications

Advanced coursework in Sustainability/ESG or Sustainable Energy preferred

Comfortable navigating an ambiguous environment

Strong writer, detail-oriented proofreader and copy editor

Strong data analysis and analytical skills, especially with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets

Demonstrated ability to work with others, lead teams, and build capacity
Outstanding written and verbal oral communication with strong business acumen

High degree of emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate a matrixed global organization

Creative strategic thinker and problem solver
