Job Description

Sesame Workshop and the IRC Ahlan Simsim Team are seeking an On-Set Inclusion Advisor. The Advisor will support the production of the initiative's mass media and direct services materials. This is a short term, independent contractor role.

Please note: This role is for an independent contractor located in Amman, Jordan. This will be for a temporary period ending at the end of April 2022. The contractor will be expected work 3-5 days a week.

Responsibilities:
• Bring expertise on disability and inclusion to production meetings, shoots, and audio records, offering advice and feedback to the production staff and communicating issues and questions to Sesame Workshop's education team.
• Review, in collaboration with other members of the project's education team, the content of all mass media materials (including episode premises, outlines, scripts, rough cuts, games, and digital activities) to ensure adherence to best practices around inclusion.

Requirements:
• At least 5 years of background working in the disability and inclusion space
• Availability to be present on the production set on short notice and during odd working hours
• Self-directed, able to independently set priorities and solve problems with minimal guidance
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
• Fluency in written and oral English and Arabic required
• Knowledge of early childhood development or education is a plus
• Experience with media creation is a plus
• Knowledge of the Middle East regional context, with experience working in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon or Iraq required

Background

Ahlan Simsim is five-year intervention to bring vital early learning and nurturing care to more than nine million children and families affected by the ongoing civil war in Syria. Funded by the MacArthur and LEGO Foundations, among other activities, the program is creating multimedia programming for children affected by the conflict. Together with the International Rescue Committee, since 2019, Sesame Workshop and our partners have been developing a pliant platform to reach young children and their caregivers wherever they are and measure how we impact their lives.
