Freelance Assistant Editor

Sesame Workshop is looking for an Assistant Editor. The Assistant Editor will work for the Sesame Street Post Production Department supports the creative and technical aspects of the entire post team. They will organize media and sequences for multi-cam edits across a variety of projects.

The role requires an individual who can handle multiple deadlines, including quick turnarounds, in an organized manner. The position is vital to our process and the applicant must find satisfaction in the tasks assigned whether they be large or small.

This position will be a 6 month contract.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare projects for editors by ingesting and organizing footage, transcoding video files, syncing audio and video, assembling edits, organizing Adobe Premiere projects, and logging footage.
• Deliver projects and clips to appropriate vendors and clients. The Assistant Editor handles a variety of clip deliveries to parties both within and outside of Sesame Workshop.
• As Sesame Workshop has a long track record of content, the Assistant Editor will handle the archiving of RAW footage and assets such as audio, color finals, films, captions, audio description, and graphics for each season of Sesame Street.
• Must have a basic understanding of audio configuration within Premiere.
• The Assistant Editor must be comfortable working with a variety of Directors and Producers. A good attitude is a must in communicating with coworkers from many departments (music, sound effects, public relations, marketing, writers, etc.). As in any creative process, sometimes multiple edits are required. The candidate must exhibit a calm manner when multiple needs are requested at once.
• If the edit team is booked, the Assistant Editor might be asked to take on small projects across various departments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 1-2 years' experience in broadcast television required
• Proficient in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop
• Ability to work on their own as well is in a group
• Knowledge of various video codecs and export settings
• Knowledge of broadcast scopes and broadcast specifications a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus
