Responsibilities

What You'll Do

This position for the NY Local office plans, organizes, and collaborates with all necessary departments to ensure the daily functions of various programs and supports the New York Executive Director and Local team in the implementation of all related initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Draft and distribute agendas and materials such as meeting notices and other supporting materials for NY Local Board and NY Executive committee meetings. Provide support to the NY executive director and president for all meetings and other local events.
• Prepare presentations and other relevant documents for NY Board meetings and membership meetings.
• Responsible for attendance and the generation of meeting minutes and summaries of action for NY Local Board, Executive Committee and membership meetings.
• Conduct research related to New York Board policies and past practices.
• Responsible for the follow up on actions requested by elected leaders and/or senior staff.
• Write and/or edit remarks for NY Local President and NY Executive Director.
• Take photographs at NY membership meetings and events and maintain photo library for the Local.
• Provide special assistance to senior staff for specific projects on an as needed basis
• Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact, and must be able to cultivate relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally.
• Expert in G-Suite including Google Slides, Sheets etc., PC applications and Internet-based systems (65 wpm minimum), and excellent knowledge of social media.
• Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written; consultative skills to gain the respect and trust from staff and leadership alike in building impactful solutions.
• Able to use sound judgment, a high level of discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
• Able to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple assignments and complex projects; able to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment; able to develop creative solutions.
• Must have professional presence and self-assurance to interact with industry leaders, key executives, high-profile members and entertainment industry partners.
• Must be flexible and cooperative in accepting various assignments.
• Able to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
• Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.

Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or comparable industry experience required.
• Advanced computer skills
• Excellent written communication skills.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
• Union or labor industry experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in the entertainment industry or a creative environment is highly preferred.
