Responsibilities
What You'll Do
As a member of the Entertainment Contracts leadership team, the National Director, Stunt & Safety has responsibility for providing guidance and direction to the Stunt & Safety team regarding claims, enforcement and advocacy on behalf of stunt performers and stunt coordinators in collaboration with and in consultation with the Entertainment Contract teams. The National Director will also be accountable for the management of the department's administrative support team with a focus on ensuring member service standards are met at all times.

• Provides overall direction for enforcement, through creation of a strategic plan and development of goals, for the Stunt & Safety staff.
• Establishes and maintains consistent interpretation & enforcement of the Codified Basic and Television Agreements pertaining to stunt performers and coordinators among all the Union offices. Research or direct research of supporting materials including negotiating notes, claims and arbitration history. Participate in planning of arbitrations and testify as necessary.
• Provides high level substantive and leadership assistance to the National Executive Director of Contracts and other senior staff.
• Maintains high level of industry knowledge through consistent study. Share critical developments.
• Act as staff liaison to the Stunt & Safety committees both on the national and local levels. In that capacity, work closely with member leadership to successfully manage meetings including scheduling, agenda development, procedural assistance, capturing actions, proper information dissemination and appropriate follow through.
• Represents SAG-AFTRA on the Industry-Wide Labor/Management Safety Committee.
• Reviews and analyzes performer injury and illness reports provided by signatory producers on a global level.
• Develop, administer and maintain the Stunt Coordinator Eligibility Roster.
• Visit production locations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Acts as one of the leaders of Entertainment Contracts and participates in the national director/executive director meetings. Provides consistent and appropriate levels of communication to senior management as well as peers in Entertainment Contracts.
• Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

• Expert interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact, and must be able to cultivate relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements with an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including the ability to defend SAG-AFTRA's position verbally or in writing to staff, members, or outside parties
• Ability to develop and conducts training seminars, as well as represent the stunt & safety department within and outside the organization
• Relationships with and an understanding of safety bulletins, safety industry organizations and the like.
• Proficient in PC applications and Internet-based systems.
• Able to use sound judgment, discretion, and maintain confidentiality on compensation matters.
• Able to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple assignments and projects; able to thrive in a highly dynamic work environment; able to develop creative solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6-8 years of relevant work experience.
• Must have experience in supervising staff.
• Extensive experience with collective bargaining agreements required.
• In-depth knowledge of the entertainment industry required.
