Job Summary
Here at Rocksteady, we champion games driven by real, believable characters rooted in a rich history of DC Lore. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about bringing these characters to life, working alongside industry veterans to help develop the next generation of amazing character artists.
As a Senior Character Artist at Rocksteady, you will work on some of the most recognizable characters in Film and Comics on our next Triple-A game: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. We're looking for people who are looking for an opportunity to grow, and who want to make a difference to the face of video games by creating diverse and exciting characters from the world of DC.
While we have one seat available on the team, we are open to exploring those who excel with the art as well as those that have strong technical strings on their bow!
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We've transitioned to a work-from-home model and we're continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position, and once it's safe to return to the office can either be completed from our London HQ, fully remotely or some combination of the two.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Character Lead to create world class characters from the world of DC
• Consistently produce characters that creatively and technically meet the studio requirements.
• Develop the skills for yourself and those around you.
• Create a positive environment around you
• Be proactive and work together with the wider studio to produce excellent results.
Requirements
• An artistic eye for character design and presentation.
• World-leading sculpting abilities.
• Mastery of game quality topology for both organic and hard surface modelling.
• Mastery of materials and texture creation, able to create realistic materials and beyond.
• Experience working with hair pipelines
• Experience working with Marvellous Designer workflows
• Experience working with Unreal Engine, or equivalent
• Portfolio with strong examples of realistic human characters, cloth drapery, hard surface, and characterful creature work.
Bonus Points
• Passion for DC Lore
• Passion for video games
• Working knowledge of Substance Designer
• Working knowledge of Python Scripting and examples of how this was used
• Working experience with Houdini within a character pipeline
• Can bring something new to the team
