Director, Software Engineering - Developer Platform

Job Description

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Director, Software Engineering, you'll direct cross-functional teams to provide seamless onboarding experiences for Game Makers and all Riot players around the world. You'll take ownership of the multi-year planning and vision for one of Riot's products, driving projects across the finish line with a keen eye for potential opportunity and risk.

As a Director, Software Engineering in the Developer Platform group, you will work with the product teams on the Developer Platform Initiative to transform how Game Makers realize their vision to deliver products to our Players. You will lead a team of 50+ and work closely with the Product, Delivery and Technical Leads of Developer Platform to create the best-in-class integration experience for Game Makers.

Developer Platform focuses on developer experience as a primary motivator, decreasing iteration time and aiding game developers in adopting all the capabilities of the Riot platform. We provide the APIs that marshal Riot's capabilities and deliver them to the player's machine.

You will report to the Senior Director of Engineering for Player Platform.

Responsibilities:
• You are accountable for the deliverables and technical design of your teams (total team sizes often range from 30 to 70+ people).
• Set technical direction at the initiative level or for a group of teams.
• Effectively communicate technical vision with your initiative/product Product Owner, Development Manager, and other leaders.
• Help track and guide recruiting for your product group or group of teams. You coach other leaders on recruiting best practices and raising the bar.
• Design, implement, and maintain a healthy organizational structure to meet BU and Riot-level goals.
• Establish and manage budgets, staffing plans, and organizational performance management for your group.
• Grow leaders and engineers on your teams.

Required Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• Experience as a Senior Software Engineer or higher
• 13+ years of industry experience
• 8+ years of management experience
• 4+ years experience leading multiple software engineering teams
