Job Description
Senior Technical Animator (Star Wars FPS)

Founded in 2010 by the original creators of the Call of Duty Franchise, Respawn was created with the philosophy that when talented people have creative freedom, they'll make extraordinary games that achieve the unexpected. Our shipped titles include critically acclaimed multi-platform games Apex Legends, Titanfall, Titanfall 2, Star Wars™ Jedi: Fallen Order and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. You can learn more about our studio and values at respawn.com/studio.

In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5. We're combining this inspiration and technology with Respawn's pedigree for making best-in-class shooters to deliver a brand new experience our players will love.

We're looking for an accomplished Senior Technical Animator who will embrace our philosophy and share their hard-earned expertise to provide support to our Star Wars FPS team. As a Senior Technical Animator, you will play a key role in empowering other developers by working closely with department stakeholders to develop our narrative animation features and Cinematics pipeline. If this sounds like you, we're eager to chat!

What you'll do...
• Reporting to the Lead Technical Animator, you will be responsible for developing and supporting our artist-facing pipelines.
• Work directly with relevant contributors and department heads to develop our DCC and runtime tools for our animation and character pipelines in Maya and Unreal Engine
• Work with department stakeholders to develop a real-time cinematics pipeline.
• Pioneer solutions for emerging animation workflows.
• Partner with Tech Anim and Engineering to implement solutions that are robust, performant, and scalable.
• Collaborate with Animation, Design and other disciplines to build functional pipelines in-engine, which you'll eventually develop into shippable solutions.
• Develop tools and systems to automate asset validation and quality control.
• Provide troubleshooting support to the relevant Art and Animation Teams, primarily for tools in Maya and Unreal.
• Provide feedback to external partners and help ensure their work meets our quality bar and performance standards.

Ideally, you'll have...
• 7+ years' game industry experience working on the technical side Art/Animation for games.
• Strong communication skills; we'll be relying on you to understand the needs of your peers while being able to communicate your own.
• Extensive experience in writing and maintaining Artist/Animator facing tools for relevant software (Python/PySide).
• Experience maintaining and adding to tools documentation, making tutorial videos and creating best practices guides.
• Experience working with both keyframe animation and motion capture data.
• Experience building or contributing to a facial animation pipeline.
• Experience working with external vendors/partners
• Experience working with an engine-side scripting solution (Blueprint or equivalent).
• Experience on 2 or more shipped titles.

If this opportunity sounds like a great fit for you, please submit your resume and we will get back to you once we have reviewed it.
