The ideal candidate has a passion for building teams and services that operate seamlessly together at scale.

In this role you will design systems and processes to provide answers to the following questions and more:
• How do we scale our infrastructure to handle 2x, 4x, 8x… our existing volume?
• How do we maintain and improve upon our current availability?
• What design patterns should we apply to our services architecture?
• How do we determine which cloud components to use and when to use them?
• How do we run a multi-cloud architecture?
• How can we be resilient to bad actors?
• Are our APIs designed to enable our applications to operate correctly and efficiently?
• Where are our runtime and engineering bottlenecks, and how do we fix them?

Responsibilities:
• Building and leading a team of Cloud Architects, Scaling Architects and Security Architects
• Contributing to the roadmap for core infrastructure and core APIs
• Guiding the introduction of new technologies to support Pluto TV's growing service needs
• Understanding the current system and suggesting areas that need improvement for growth and features
• Mentoring other engineers to strengthen design and implementation decisions

Basic Qualifications:

We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience to be successful in this role:
• 4+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect, Microservice Architect or Scaling Architect for products that have scaled to 100Ks or millions of simultaneous users.
• 4 + years as a Manager or lead of a team of Cloud Architects or Senior back-end Software Engineers

Additional Qualifications:
• Can design appropriate solutions unaided or takes the lead when collaborating.
• Is expected to know how decisions made will affect system components at multiple levels across the Pluto TV software stack.
• Is an authority in Cloud Architecture and micro service technologies and processes
• Hands on experience with at least one Cloud Services provider (AWS, GCP, Azure etc)
• Has battle scars from debugging services in production environments
• Skilled in the art of compromise
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, Serverless, CI/CD pipelines, Logging systems (e.g., Loggly, Splunk, ELK), APM
• Built servers with at least one of Java, NodeJS, GoLang, Ruby
