Technical Manager, Localization (Contract)

San Francisco, CA

We are looking for a Technical Program Manager who is a highly efficient and motivated manager to work across several cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for defining next-generation localization tools for SIE, implementing localization workflow improvements, and supporting localization testing, as it pertains to new and existing business initiatives. Responsibilities:
• Work with the various cross-functional teams including client engineering QA, a proprietary CMS development, and UX, to ensure the localization process runs smoothly and on schedule, as part of the overall release process
• Champion localization requirements to tool development teams. Ensure implementation of localization features in development tools, including any necessary integration with third-party tools
• Lead localization testing for projects and features assigned by QA manager, including crafting test plans/cases, taking screenshots, leading screenshot reviews, leading string reviews, performing end to end testing, reporting functional and linguistic bugs, and validating bug fixes
• Liaison local development and QA teams with remote localization testing teams by providing information and data necessary for localization testing.
• Identify areas for localization QA process improvements, initiate discussions to achieve consensus, and work with stakeholders to implement agreed items
• Investigate and understand industry best practices for localization testing and test automation. Define localization requirements for test automation. Track status of test automation across all projects and manage backlog of test automation implementation.

Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience with localization project management of technology products.
• Consistent track record in delivering global products and understanding of internationalization and localization issues.
• BS/BA in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
• Experience working in Program/Project Management in an agile environment. SAFe certification
• In-depth understanding of localization/internationalization issues and localization testing experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple and diverse stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels
• Requires proficiency in Project Management tools, preferably tools used in Agile development (Rally, JIRA, etc.) as well as Confluence, Google Apps, Wiki and SharePoint
• Hands-on experience with Translation Management Systems such as XTM, Smartling, or SDL/WorldServer, MemoQ and knowledge of TM, Terminology management
• Must excel in conflict resolution, negotiation, and people management across Western and Japanese cultures.
• Self-directed – ability to take initiative in identifying and solving large problems
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, work independently under pressure, prioritize, can balance multiple projects and stay focused in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrable skills in leadership, communication (written and presentation), and matrix management.
• Excellent English communication skills, both in writing and in speaking.

Desired qualifications:
• Master's Degree in related field
• Experience with localization test automation
• Experience in the video game industry is not required, but interest in gaming, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, technology is a plus
• Experience working in global markets and/or living and working outside of United States
• Native-level proficiency in one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic
