Specialized Responsibilities:
• Own the network design, development, and implementation of multiple areas of focus or multiple teams
• Be a subject matter expert in most or all of the relevant protocols.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Tech Leads to collaboratively build the best design for each project
• Develop solutions that drive the success of our bleeding-edge networks and platforms.
• Support our staff via escalations as necessary.
• Roll up your sleeves and own the completion of network projects
• Work with engineers assigned to projects by providing reviews, guidance, and mentoring on technical tasks
• Contribute to a DevOps culture by striving to improve the automation of our network

Required Experience:
• 8+ years of progressive experience supporting large scale telecommunications environments in a service provider (CDN/ISP/NSP/Carrier), datacenter, financial or large enterprise network.
• Expert level understanding of network fundamentals
• Experience with backbone and edge routing policy, engineering, and operation in a multi-transit, multi-peer environment.
• Deep understanding of modern router architecture including interworking of control plane and forwarding plane, switch fabric, and egress queuing
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Advanced comprehension of and experience with:
• IS-IS, OSPF
• MPLS
• iBGP / eBGP
• EVPN, VXLAN
• Mentoring junior/mid/senior engineers

Desirable Experience:
• Advanced comprehension of and experience with
• ISIS, MPLS, IPv6, and L2/L3 VPN services.
• Linux system administration.
• MP-BGP routing policy in a global network environment.
• Cluster networking/CLOS fabrics
• Router firewall policy
• Extensive experience with Juniper MX , QFX, SRX, and EX series platforms.
• Experience working in load balancer topologies.
• Experience with optical media and optical transport systems.
• Experience using a distributed version control system (git).
• Experience building automation tools for large infrastructures.
• Experience working in a globally distributed team and/or with IT Service Management (e.g. ITIL).
• Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Ruby or other languages such as Java, JavaScript, Go, etc.
