Software Engineer (Platform Experience Group - PEG)
Why PlayStation?
Role overview:
We seek a software engineer within Partners. The Partners platform is the collective term for all the applications and services, used worldwide, by which developers interact and supply their content onto the PlayStation platform, including games, movies, music and more.
This engineer would be responsible for helping us balance the challenge of modernising a mature and fully featured application while creating new services to make our relationship with partners even better. The ideal candidate would have worked on and supported large web projects before in an agile SCRUM team, with demonstrable experience in all levels of web application development.
What you'll be doing:
Development and Technical
• Collaborate on new cloud based services (AWS) using NodeJS, TypeScript, GoLang, or a technology best fit to solve the problem.
• Build front-end user experiences to spec, working closely with Product and UX.
• Drive improvements in all projects and areas, to refine our products and processes.
Mentoring and leadership
• Lead and provide direction for the self managing development team when necessary.
• Facilitate discussion of technical solutions and help the team make informed decisions.
• Support the leadership team with technical management.
• Mentor team members and junior engineers through pairing and code reviews.
Teamwork and Soft Skills
• Work in partnership with Product to plan achievable sprints and iterations.
• Constructively contribute to feature breakdown, design and developer discussions.
What we are looking for:
• Expertise in backend and frontend web development and technologies
• At least one backend language. Familiarity with NodeJS or PHP.
• Able to decompose complex problems into simple components
• Strong debugging skills
• Version control (git)
• Create reusable, effective, scalable and testable code
• Thinking to solve problems creatively
• GoLang, TypeScript or Python
• AWS experience. AWS lambda or EKS experience are a plus.
• Unix proficiency.
• Experience with Jenkins jobs and pipelines.
Knowledge
• Technical understanding of how web applications can be put together
• Technologies, APIs, web services, architectural styles
• Current software development trends
Relevant experience
• Enjoyed working in 1 or more Scrum teams
• Been an active member of an engineering team
• Worked with Development, UX, DevOps team members
• Kanban, SAFe experience
