Senior Unity Programmer - 6 month FTC

Department Overview:

The Immersive Video Tech (IVT) team are a small group of highly hardworking creative technologists pushing the boundaries of technology in the VR space. Responsible for the highly acclaimed and award-winning Joshua Bell VR Experience and more recently Tom Grennan VR on PlayStation store, IVT are at the forefront of Sony PlayStation's drive for new experiences in VR.

Role overview:

We are seeking an experienced Unity 3D programmer to join our team for the duration of our current project, which is developing innovative new techniques to visualise and interact with climate data using PlayStation VR. You join us as part of a small team, contributing to all stages of our agile development process. A dedication to collaborative problem solving and attention to detail are crucial.

Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the full development process of each feature, from initial concept, through design to implementation, testing and bug fixing
• Collaboratively design and implement functionality based on project high level concepts and goals
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code by following industry standard best practices
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these problems
• Collaborate closely with QA and publishing teams to help deliver the final product

Requirements:
• Excellent up-to-date knowledge of Unity 3D (2019.x and above), including proficiency with C# code development and asset processing
• Ability to research evolving game standards, graphics and media technologies independently
• Ability to join and quickly adapt to an established team agile workflow, while contributing to continuously improving it
• Experience with console development.
• Experience with 3D geometry and mathematical concepts
• Experience with writing shader code
• Experience optimizing memory and storage space usage
• Ability to write clean, readable, and easily maintainable code
• Proficient knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git and Perforce

Advantageous skills:
• Prior experience on a published PlayStation title
• Knowledge of video and image processing tools (Adobe CC, BM DaVinci, the GIMP etc.), workflows and codecs
• VR development experience
• Appreciation of VR specific UI/UX concepts
• Familiarity with stereoscopic concepts
• Experience with data visualisation
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Bash or similar
