This is a fantastic opportunity to join the PlayStation UX Research Team's leadership and become a key player in defining the product and design strategy of PlayStation's products and services, and the future of interactive entertainment! As Manager, UX Research, you will report to the Head of UX Research & Insights. You will be responsible for leading a team of UX Researchers and lead all aspects of the roadmap for a range of UX Research programs in collaboration with UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, and other partners.

As an ideal candidate, you are experienced in strategic research (quantitative & qualitative), concept research, and evaluative research. Your role is to complement business strategy, inform product and design direction, and help deliver best-in-class innovative user experiences. You let your passion shine by consistently advocating for users needs. You collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement the best solutions to user problems. You provide valuable feedback to your team, peers and your manager, and are a role model to all researchers. You have an excellent understanding of the UX Design process and principles. You have a detailed understanding of technological capabilities and limitations.

Role & Responsibilities:
• Manage and lead a team of researchers, providing guidance and support for career planning.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, budgeting, work processes, and policies.
• Own end-to-end UX Research roadmap of key product areas - from foundational research to inform product direction, all the way to usability testing of final products.
• Orchestrate communication with partners, including designers, product managers, program managers, engineers, Sr leadership and executives.
• Translate goals and strategies into prioritized research opportunities.
• Ensure that research outputs are high quality and meet the established standards and guidelines and go beyond ''bullet points''.
• Supervise the work of researchers, assigning and reviewing tasks across specific domain areas and programs. Push them toward innovative and creative thinking when approaching research challenges.
• Orchestrate initiatives to build new and evolve existing research methods and processes by staying up-to-date with innovations in the industry.
• Manage partner agencies and consultants, advising their efforts through clear input and feedback to ensure high quality outputs that suit the needs of the internal partners.

Requirements:
• Minimum BA/BS degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of industry UX Research experience shown in a portfolio of projects.
• 5+ years experience in UX Research management & leadership role(s).
• Proven track record of conducting UX Research projects at all stages of the product development lifecycle.
• A robust understanding of industry-standard UX research methods including ethnographic methods (in-depth interview, group interviews), evaluative methods (usability testing, tree testing, etc.), and quantitative methods (surveys, behavioral analytics, etc.).
• Expert-level knowledge of research techniques to serve as knowledge-base for the team
• Proven thought leadership in the field of UX research – has given talks, published papers, influenced, and promoted the field of UX.
• Extensive experience providing research and deep insights leading to compelling and quality interfaces.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build and sustain internal and external partnerships.
• Knowledge of, and passion for video game, media and software industries is a plus.
