Communications Business Operations Manager

Location: San Mateo, CA

We're looking for an experienced Communications Business Operations Manager to support PlayStation's Global Communications department. This role will build and maintain a rock-solid foundation of key business processes that will improve our international operations across the department and enhance team cohesion around the world.

Responsibilities
• Executive support and coordination
• Support SVP by leading and implementing various strategic planning processes across the organization and providing Comms Senior leadership team with important direction to prepare for executive-level presentations.
• Collaborate with Comms Senior Leadership team to identify and prioritize business strategy and opportunities to optimize
• Plan, coordinate, and keep Senior Leadership meetings focused and useful
• Handle department budget including annual, quarterly, and monthly expense tracking for marketing costs. Oversee and Manage Tasks include but not limited to:
• Vendor contract management and processing
• Purchase order management, processing, and tracking
• Handle accruals and expenditure forecasting
• Propose and implement optimal process creation, working closely with Finance & Accounting
• Partner with Finance to lead, analyze and review organizational budgets, measure, track and reconcile discrepancies.
• Internal consultant: Work with multiple partners, management, and various related departments to optimize processes across budget, forecasting, accruals, and other areas as needed
• Establish and administer key international business processes as needed by the department, including but not limited to:
• Developing and leading standardized solutions for efficiently coordinating and collaborating with regional and Global business units
• Leading information security standard processes and run by sharing Globally with continual review for improvements
• Documenting, managing, and communicating centralized repository of processes, and optimizing to promote efficient business operations

Freedom to act:
• Position will have light autonomy. Takes day-to-day direction on creating, managing, refining, and operating multiple departmental, interdepartmental, and international processes from small to large. At times, will work independently and from precedent in logistical components such managing processes, overseeing department budget and finance obligations, and finding opportunities to improve or refine processes.
• No sign-off or budgetary responsibility.

Problem complexity:
• Position will face mostly logistical/technical complexities with handling budgets using Microsoft Excel and related tools, interpreting leadership needs and proposing new processes to help solve gaps in department capability, fact-finding and discovery tasks, and learning about international operations. Moderate analytical and problem-solving skills both in a technical and procedural sense will be required.
• Role is expected to help identify pros and cons of existing processes and to elevate potentially urgent events to the appropriate parties.
• Position will also need written skills to communicate with international team clearly and consistently.
• Position may face inquiries from team members, local market business units, or other departments under timeline pressure, and will need to respond in line with department policy.

Level of impact:
• Position will be a valuable component on the sustainment and expansion of the Global Communications team, which acts as a core driver for our overall Public Relations and Marketing efforts.

Working Conditions:
• Position works alongside Global Communication and Regional Communication team members, and coordinates and communicates with colleagues continually face-to-face and via electronic means.
• Hours are typically predictable, but on occasion, the position will require attention outside of normal work hours.
• Domestic and international travel is unlikely in most instances.

What We're Looking For
• Education: BA/BS in Business, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related field, OR 5+ years of experience in finance, administrative, or related role
• 5-7 years experience as a financial analyst in a Marketing, Communications, or related organization
• Project Management experience necessary
• Ability to run and prioritize workload and roadmaps
• Someone who likes to find a better way of doing things. This role will create and maintain many simple, sustainable processes that will help a large team work together effectively.
• Someone who likes rolling up their sleeves and learning on the job from a team of passionate communication and operational partners.
• Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and contract and purchasing software applications
• Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
• Knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, information visualization, and information analysis
• Well informed in current financial subjects and accounting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
