Lead Software Engineer - Platform Team

Job Description

The Platform Engineering team creates, maintains, and supports internal tools related to Pixar's production pipeline and development infrastructure. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for organizing the efforts of the team to develop new features and maintain existing systems at the request of production and software R&D engineers.

Responsibilities
• Work with production and developers to implement and maintain the studio's production and development infrastructure.
• Mentor other team engineers in areas such as software development standard methodologies, customer support, problem-solving techniques, and professional development.
• Prioritize incoming work and set goals for the team.
• Collaborate with other teams to improve the developer experience working within the studio codebase.
• Work closely with the Build and QA teams on improvements to the test and release infrastructure.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading technical teams, or coaching/mentoring other team members in a technical area.
• Willingness to be hands-on and deeply understand the team's processes and areas for improvement.
• Deep familiarity with common developer tool sets, including source control (Perforce and Git), continuous integration, and automated unit testing.
• Experience writing and debugging applications in C++ and Python, particularly systems-level programming on Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS Linux.
• Familiarity with full stack web technologies and DevOps methodology.

Bonus points if you have:
• Experience writing tools or working within a studio content pipeline.
• Experience with 3D content creation tools like Maya or Houdini.
