Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create, modify and/or transcode digital assets as assigned
• This includes, but is not limited to:
• Master Deliverables
• Features/Shorts/Trailers/Promo & Marketing Content
• Digital Cinema Packages
• Vendor Work Reels
• Streaming, security, and QC exports
• Evaluate incoming materials for quality and technical specifications
• Define optimal encoding and transcoding parameters and accurately create digital media to required specifications
• Verify requested outputs are appropriate for intended use and make recommendations to clients accordingly
• Work with Mastering Coordinator and clients to clarify needs and solve problems
• Keep clients apprised of the status of their work requests
• Verify and QC created assets for accuracy and technical standards
• Create and maintain database records and metadata for new assets
• Communicate with external partners and vendors regarding specifications, technical questions and issues
• Initiate, track and report on digital deliveries to vendors and other production partners
• Configure, route and verify requested hardware services
• Assist with setup of digital video review rooms and related hardware as needed
• Contribute to departmental documentation (e.g., procedures, reports, specifications)
• Collaborate with Post Production Software Engineering on concept, implementation and optimization of workflows as new technologies and tasks emerge
• Collaborate with Post Production Software Engineering on support of existing tools as needed
• Advise on tape-based materials as they are digitized into master digital assets
• Encode and burn playable DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Authoring experience a plus
• Alert and advise Department Managers and/or AV Engineering staff about any equipment problem or recommendations
• Complete special projects as identified or requested

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3 years minimum industry experience in video postproduction, preferably with an emphasis on filebased materials and/or streaming content
• 2 years minimum of quality control experience in the TV, Film or video industry
• Required knowledge of SMPTE Video specifications HD Rec709 and SD Rec601 in mov, mxf and image sequence formats as well as comprehensive understanding of related pixel aspect ratios, frame rates and resolutions. Additional working experience with HDR and related colorspaces and formats a plus
• Knowledge of audio codecs, bit depths
• Experience with Rohde & Schwarz Clipster mastering system a plus
• Digital Cinema Packaging experience a plus
• Experience transcoding and/or modifying video with Resolve, Compressor, FFMPEG, After Effects or other similar programs
• Familiarity in processing digital video camera formats and LUTs including but not limited to: Sony, Red, GoPro, AVCHD, XDCamHD, etc
• Functional familiarity with various non-linear editing systems (Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere)
• Understanding of MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, JPEG2000, QuickTime, Apple Pro-Res, DNxHD, XDCam, MXF, DV, DPX, AAC and other applicable video and audio formats
• Knowledge of Macintosh, Windows and Unix/Linux operating environments and functional understanding of drive formats, networks and storage
• Functional experience with Linux command line operations
• Knowledge of tape machines and formats such as HD CAM, HD CAM SR, D5, Digital Betacam & DVCam, and knowledge of patching and routing tape machines and monitors
• Must be organized, diligent, detail-oriented, and able to document/comment with clarity
• Must be able to work independently on assigned work, yet continue to be responsible for following up on any outstanding issues in a timely manner

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work autonomously and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently
