Client Operations Senior Manager – Graphic Novels and Manga
Penguin Random House Publisher Services is committed to providing the highest level of sales and distribution services to over 50 independent publishers of all sizes across a variety of publishing categories. The Client Operations team plays a critical role in the success of these publishers and the PRHPS business overall.
We are seeking an experienced operations professional to join the Client Operations team as a Senior Manager to work with PRHPS's ever-growing list of Graphic Novel, Manga, and Comic Book publishers including clients such as Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse, DC, Seven Seas, and others.
The Senior Manager, Client Operations should have a passion for Graphic Novels, Manga, Comics, and be a problem solver who can effectively guide others through complex processes. The knowledge base required for the Senior Manager, Client Operations role is extensive. You will be responsible for having a working knowledge of and experience with: warehousing and physical supply chain, metadata maintenance and data feeds, financial accounting, physical and digital production, as well as digital asset management and distribution.
In this role, you will:
• Oversee day-to-day relationships for several client publishers
• Contribute to a professional environment in which intellectual curiosity is rewarded, knowledge is shared, respect is a foundational value, and colleagues can attain a high degree of psychological safety while functioning at a high professional level
• Quickly distill the needs of the client and provide thoughtful, strategic, creative, and informed solutions to meet client publisher needs within standard operating procedures
• Be expected to digest complex information into clear and actionable insights that can be shared with other employees through training and mentoring
• Prioritize requests based on business needs, while coordinating actions through multiple departments, and closely tracking follow through and results
• Independently drive an array of projects, both large and small, to create processes, procedures, and standards of work
• Diagnose, develop, and implement process improvement efforts
• Recognize the critical role details play, while also maintaining emphasis on the big picture
Ideal candidates will meet the following requirements:
• Minimum 5-7 years of Account Management, Operations, and/or Project Management experience (preferably within the Comic Book or Book Publishing industries)
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Exceptional written and verbal skills
• Ability to build relationships through integrity, reliability, and maturity
• Ability to communicate credibly and effectively with people at all levels of an organization
• Ability to receive and deliver feedback in a constructive manner
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
