The Senior Manager, Children's Consumer Insights, will tap into trends, multimedia, culture, and consumer needs that shape the lives of youth, parent, and educator audiences, while working on strategic consumer insights projects across a range of subjects, from beloved childhood book brands like Dr. Seuss and The Very Hungry Caterpillar to bestselling YA authors.

This position sits within the PRH Corporate Consumer Marketing team, reporting to the Director, Publishing Insights. You'll work collaboratively with a team of curious and motivated researchers and insights professionals, and you'll closely partner with our children's publishers, Penguin Young Readers and Random House Children's Books, as well as the corporate team working on Brightly, a program aimed at raising lifelong readers.

You will…
• Collaborate with children's publishing stakeholders and other analysts across social media, marketing, publicity, editorial, and sales roles to understand key business needs and develop research, from author audience analysis, to surveys or qualitative studies, in support of business priorities. Your insights will be crafted to inspire everything from how we identify rising talent, develop our book packaging, and market to our readers.
• Competently and comfortably use an array of analytics tools and data sets -surveys, sales data, social and third-party data, and owned segmentation--to tell stories about a wide range of audiences. Your scope is wide: one day you'll focus on author audience research, or explore new products for classic children's brands; other days you might pivot to YA opportunity audiences, or an exploration of multicultural genre readers.
• Be an internal leader on youth trends, regularly sharing your action-oriented findings with stakeholders through newsletters or our internal insights portal.

An ideal candidate:
• Has 4-7 years of consumer insights experience in a business or agency setting.
• Has experience in, or passion for, children's brands.
• Has client management or experience building stakeholder relationships across varied roles within an organization.
• Has familiarity with various data and insights tools (including consumer intelligence tools, such as: social listening tools (ex: Brandwatch), syndicated survey/audience data (ex: YouGov, SimilarWeb), visualization software (ex: Power BI). Adept at learning new tools.
• Has advanced Excel and PowerPoint experience.
• Is able to drive a project autonomously, is comfortable with senior stakeholders and can get, support as needed.
• Has a fresh perspective on publishing (no prior experience in the industry required).
