If you want to be part of a team dedicated to the business of creating new books for young readers, then this role is for you.

Random House Children's Books, a division of Penguin Random House, seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Publishing Assistant who will be an essential member of the Publishing team, supporting the Deputy Publisher and assisting with planning the division's publishing programs.

This position offers a unique perspective on the strategy and operations of Random House Children's Books, home to beloved, classic children's book authors and brands like Dr. Seuss, Magic Tree House, The Berenstain Bears, and Little Golden Books, as well as current bestsellers like Wonder, The Book Thief, I'm Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, We Were Liars, and A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Creating books for toddlers through young adult readers, in all formats from board books to activity books to picture books, novels, and nonfiction, the imprints of Random House Children's Books bring together award-winning authors and illustrators, world-famous franchise characters, and multimillion-copy series.

As the Publishing Assistant, you will be part of a fun and fast-paced group. You'll meet and work closely with many colleagues in other departments within the division, especially Editorial, Art, Marketing, and Publicity. The role is ideal for someone who loves reading, is a details-focused self-starter, and is a strong communicator, organizer, and multi-tasker.

The Role:
• Manage Deputy Publisher's calendar and provide admin support for the Publishing Department
• Assist Deputy Publisher in all aspects of daily work and responsibilities; run reports, retrieve and organize sales data, create Powerpoint presentations, draft communication, and track projects
• Organize recurring weekly, monthly, and seasonal meetings run by the Deputy Publisher and attended by senior staff-create agendas, distribute materials, and take notes
• Assist with planning the publishing lists for the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons; coordinate with Managing Editorial, Design, and Editorial departments; create and maintain key support materials
• Coordinate the division's multi-day List Launch meetings three times a year: create PowerPoint presentations and reports, send divisional communications, and organize data.
• Assist with tracking, posting, and distributing seasonal materials, such as covers, manuscripts, interior artwork, and digital galleys
• Support the team on special research projects, including market analyses and category studies.
• Assist with planning of divisional meetings and activities.
• Write and distribute divisional communications, such as meeting updates and the Acquisitions Newsletter

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Interest in children's publishing is preferred

Entry-level salary for this position is $45,000. Full-time employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
