Publicity Assistant, Random House (Open to Remote)
Founded in 1925, Random House is the proud publishing house of many of the world's most acclaimed storytellers, thought leaders, and innovators. Our host of imprints publish original fiction and non-fiction in all formats with the mission to entertain, educate, and inspire readers for generations.
We are currently seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Random House publicity department to support the two publicity directors on publicity campaigns for media-driven non-fiction across the Random House portfolio of imprints. Title work includes narrative non-fiction, politics, celebrity, newsmakers, and business. This position provides an intensive education in trade book publishing in a fast-paced, exciting, and highly collaborative environment. The Publicity Assistant role is the ideal position for a curious, confident, self-motivated person who loves working on non-fiction titles, has an understanding of the media, and is interested in learning how to execute publicity strategy.
Responsibilities include:
• Assistance in carrying out high-impact publicity campaigns for non-fiction titles, notably in the politics, history, social justice, business, and pop culture space.
• Writing pitch materials, pulling media lists, and researching media targets
• Assisting senior publicity staff with high profile media campaigns for best-selling authors
• Creating and managing author itineraries
• Updating internal documents and systems
• Liaising with media, booksellers, colleagues in-house, and authors
• Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and reviewing copy requests
• Organizing travel and hotel logistics for author tours and special events
• Processing invoices, maintaining title budgets on supervisor's campaigns, and helping with data entry related to campaigns
• Performing online research to acquire publicity contacts and updating media lists
• Coordinating logistics for meetings, including calendar schedules, preparing meeting materials, and taking notes
• Additional assignments, projects and responsibilities, as needed

• Ability to juggle priorities in a deadlines-driven, fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
• Proficiency with social media, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
