Sasquatch Books offers our authors and team members the best of both worlds. We are a small press based in Seattle with a creative, agile, and innovative team of 20, and we are part of Penguin Random House, the world's leading English-language publisher.

Creative, dynamic, and experienced, the Publicity and Marketing Manager creates and manages comprehensive national publicity campaigns for our diverse list of approximately 24 titles a year, including cookbooks, wellness, parenting, and Pacific Northwest-focused titles. Working in concert with the Director of Marketing and other Marketing and Sales team members, the ideal candidate for this role is adaptable and flexible, working across publicity and marketing functions as needed on our collaborative team.

Excellent publicity is a cornerstone of success at Sasquatch Books, and the ideal candidate for this position is an energetic self-starter who is an insatiable media consumer and trend spotter and is excited to work with media outlets-from traditional print to digital media to connect our books with readers. This position requires a passion for nurturing media relationships as well as thinking outside the box to develop new ones, recognizing that readers are discovering books in places as varied as niche digital newsletters and glossy magazines. The Publicity and Marketing Manager knows how to strategize, organize, and execute integrated book media campaigns and author events that drive sales.

The Publicity and Marketing Manager will be results-oriented, energetic, organized, and creative. Excellent communication and organizational skills required, along with the ability to develop strong relationships with media, colleagues, bookstore contacts, and authors.

Key Responsibilities:
• Create, orchestrate, and execute integrated publicity campaigns for all New titles in Adult and Spruce imprints and core backlist as appropriate
• Strategize and execute a variety of publicity tactics to reach the target consumer audiences
• Nurture relationships with key media to maximize coverage for Sasquatch titles and press
• Manage media contact lists to ensure that all media campaigns are well-planned, trackable, and organized.
• Create all press materials to be available in advance of publication, including news releases, media advisories, author bios, pitch letters, and press kit materials.
• Maximize pre-publication reviews, long lead placements, and excerpt opportunities with targeted lists and advance materials
• Research and determine appropriate media to pitch for each title, considering author's media contacts, author niche/audience, and sales positioning in the marketplace
• Meet and develop relationships with all new authors at least 6 months prior to publication and work closely with them to maximize their reach as part of a dynamic marketing plan that creates maximum consumer demand for every new release
• Plan and coordinate author events for all new titles with administrative support from Sales & Marketing team

Job Requirements:
• At least 3 years in publicity or marketing in publishing or closely related field
• Proactive professional who is driven to set and exceed aggressive, quantifiable goals
• Fluent in media relations, online marketing, and social media
• Creative thinker who works with energy and urgency and also attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal relationships and communications ability across all mediums
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadline pressure
• Passionate about diversity, inclusivity and reaching diverse audiences
• Able/willing to travel as needed approximately 3 times a year
• Candidates based in the Pacific Northwest a plus
