Job Description

Penguin Random House is seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working candidate to join the Clarkson Potter/Harmony/Rodale production team. Learn about all aspects of production and manufacturing while working for one of the premier publishers of lifestyle and wellness books and stationery products by authors such as Ina Garten, Chrissy Teigen, David Chang, and Deepak Chopra.

The Production Department oversees the physical making of books. Whether it's negotiating prices with our printers, ordering paper, managing schedules or color correcting images in Photoshop, Production takes a book from digital files to something you can hold in your hands.

Qualifications:
• The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with outside vendors and teams in other departments such as Editorial, Design and Operations
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Flexibility and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) a plus

To be successful, candidates should be able to:
• Handle all aspects of book production, such as estimating, scheduling, trafficking, color correcting, purchasing and quality control
• Manage the conversion of hardcover titles to paperback
• Organize and track production of printed and digital galleys (preliminary copies of books for sales and marketing purposes)
• Maintain department library
• Prepare various department reports
• Assist with departmental administrative tasks such as ordering office supplies, archiving final book files, and managing distribution lists
