Job Description
The Organic Social Media Manager will work on the Digital Marketing team at Random House Children's Books (RHCB) to oversee organic social media campaigns and content for RHCB's organic social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok, reporting to the Assistant Director, Social Media Strategy. They will assist in the supervision of a Community Manager and work with our content partners and photographers to develop shareable, engaging content and manage design and photography direction. The Organic Social Media Manager will also serve as a key social media contact for our authors, illustrators, and internal division departments providing guidance on social media strategy, troubleshooting issues, and working with them to develop content.
This role will work across two distinct channels- @randomhousekids which targets parents and showcases picture book and middle grade books, and @getunderlined which targets our teen and crossover readers and showcases our young adult books. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in organic social media strategy for books by bestselling authors such as: Nic Stone, Jennifer Niven, Nicola Yoon, Karen McManus, Philip Pullman and classic children's brands like Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss, Little Golden Books, and Sesame Street.
The Role
• Inform RHCB's cross-platform organic social media strategy including channels strategy, posting frequency, and brand voice and persona
• Supervise RHCB's Community Manager, working across the @randomhousekids and @getunderlined social media channels
• Work in partnership with team photographers, designers, and video partners to guide content creation, convey priorities and steer the overall look and feel of our social media content
• Provide social media support and guidance for RHCB authors including developing social media best practices guides, troubleshooting issues
• Collaborate with authors to help them develop their social media brand by sharing best practices, developing their content strategy, and sharing platform updates and new features
• Build social media strategies and content calendars for high profile and celebrity authors with significant social followings
• Partner with Digital Title Marketers to share learnings, define division priorities, and provide insights based on social media listening
• Collaborate with Manager, Paid Social to share knowledge and ensure all social media campaigns work together cohesively
• Collaborate with the larger marketing team on multi-channel integrated campaigns, providing social media insights and recommendations as needed
• Provide education to internal teams on new developments in social media, best practices, and trending content
• Gather, analyze and report on all organic social media results, providing recommendations as appropriate
The Requirements
• 4+ years working in social media, digital marketing, or a related field
• Proven understanding of the social landscape, platform best practices, and a clear grasp of consumers' social media habits
• Ability to strategize and drive results through social media content across all social channels, with an emphasis on Instagram and TikTok
• A clear understanding of social media analytics and metrics of success across platforms
• A love and understanding of internet culture and its ever-changing nature – from memes to trends to new social platforms
• Ability to pivot between targeting two distinct audiences - parents and teens and crossover readers
• A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate productive working relationships
• Proficiency in creative problem-solving, decision making, and time management
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Outstanding project management skills
• Experience using social media analytics tools and social listening tools such as Sprout Social and Brandwatch
