Job Description
We are seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team to market Portfolio and Sentinel's bestselling nonfiction in the fields of business, economics, politics, self-help, leadership, and journalism. Our authors are internationally recognized thought leaders, professors, CEOs, media personalities, and movement starters, and our mission is to help them refine and position their message, build their platforms, and spread their ideas far and wide.

This position will oversee all aspects of marketing for approximately 3-6 titles per season. The Marketing Manager will craft marketing strategy and execute on plans such as: advertising and social media campaigns; creating and distributing promotional materials; maintaining title budgets; and managing pre-order promotions. This position will also oversee the marketing efforts of Portfolio and Sentinel's highly successful backlist, which includes perennial classics like Start With Why by Simon Sinek, The Obstacle Is the Way by Ryan Holiday, Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport, Everything Is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo, and many more.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Working with the Director of Marketing & Publicity, Assistant Director of Marketing, Marketing Coordinator, and other team members to brainstorm and execute customized promotions for individual books.
• Consulting and coordinating with authors, editors and publicists on marketing plans and pre-order campaigns.
• Consulting with authors on incorporating book promotion into their pre-existing brands & platforms.
• Researching and defining audiences and crafting strategy to reach those audiences, via creative promotions, digital advertising, influencer networks, etc.
• Writing, designing, routing, and managing schedules for digital promotional assets, including social media graphics, newsletter assets, and bonus content.
• Coordinating digital advertising campaigns and collaborating with our internal design department on creative direction and development.
• Liaising with Backlist Marketing department to execute backlist marketing initiatives, including monitoring trends for promotional opportunities.

• A minimum of 4 years of marketing experience; book publishing experience strongly preferred
• Genuine interest in nonfiction publishing, especially in business, politics, current events, history and psychology categories
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative spirit and desire to learn and grow in the position
• Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, manage time effectively, and keep projects moving independently
• Ability to think strategically and creatively about each unique project
• Interest in exploring new trends, audiences, platforms, and tools, and testing new tactics for reaching readers
• Experience running digital ads
