Job Description
Cloud (AWS) Infrastructure Engineer

Penguin Random House is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. This person will utilize their expertise in cloud operations working as part of a team responsible for ongoing optimization and governance of cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will help shape and direct the technology roadmap for Penguin Random House Cloud Migration and Native Cloud Development projects.

We are looking for candidates who are accountable, passionate, assertive, proactive, open & honest, results oriented, and adaptable.

Qualifications:
• 4+ or more years of IT implementation experience
• BS degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with cloud migration strategies and cloud applications
• Comfortable driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation
• Hands-on experience with the design, development, and deployment of infrastructure at scale
• Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
• Knowledge of automated code deployment workflows within cloud architectures
• Scripting and/or coding skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments
• Ability to lead highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
• Large scale migration experience: data center to data center and/or data center to cloud
• Integration of cloud services with on premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, Dell/EMC, SAP, etc.
• Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (e.g. shell, Python, PowerShell)
• Configuration management using Cloud Formation, Salt Stack
• Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a cloud or virtualized environment
• Experience managing data center operations, including monitoring, alerting and notifications
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
• Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
