Job Description

We are seeking a Manager to join the Advertising and Promotion department of Penguin Publishing Group, part of Penguin Random House. This individual will manage ad planning, buying, strategy, and performance analysis across media outlets for the Berkley, Dutton, and Putnam imprints.

The Advertising Manager will report to the Executive Director of Advertising and Promotion, and join a creative, data-driven, fast-paced, and supportive department. This role will work hands-on on a wide range of genres including romance, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, and book club titles, in addition to bestselling author programs and unique publishing events.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Researching, brainstorming, and pitching ad campaign plans to internal stakeholders, as well as sourcing established and new target audiences
• Maintaining and fostering relationships with established vendors and ad outlet partners (print, digital, video, audio & emerging), as well as growing new ad partnerships
• Extensively liaising with Marketing and core Ad Buying team members to review opportunities, trends, campaign details, and final analysis on ad performances
• Contributing and leading team discussions on campaign performance, new outlet opportunities, and attending and establishing vendor meetings.
• Coding and processing ad invoices, and logging and assigning all campaign requests to the Design team
• Providing support for special initiatives that fall outside of the scope of standard day-to-day work

• Exceptional organizational and proofreading skills, strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently utilizing effective time management skills and prioritization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to use, understand, and analyze a variety of advertising analytics tools and databases
• Proficient in all Microsoft suite tools, especially Excel
• Knowledge of SAP, File Maker Pro, and Airtable a plus
