Job Description
Responsibilities
NBCUniversal is looking for a seasoned SEO expert to join its direct-to-consumer organization, as Director of SEO. The role will sit on the Growth Marketing team, reporting to the Sr. Director of Growth Product, overseeing SEO & ASO strategy and tactics across both Peacock and NBC Sports.

The successful candidate will have a polished SEO skill set, with a proficiency in both technical and content optimization. They will demonstrate the capability to balance unique strategies across two industries -- streaming and sports news – and leverage inter-personal skills to drive enterprise-level SEO projects. The candidate will relish diving into data, taking a KPI-focused approach to balance the long-term goal of growing the traffic baseline, with the need to maximize short-term opportunities as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute unique SEO Strategies for each respective business unit, with a focus on long-term, sustainable growth tactics
• Serve as the technical SEO expert; regularly evaluate crawlability and indexability, identifying and prioritizing bugs and areas of opportunity
• Lead keyword research, maintaining database of relevant keywords, with up-to-date search volumes and competitive metrics
• Optimize on page SEO; landing page ideation and gap analysis to maximize authority of priority keywords, and take advantage of whitespace opportunities; metadata optimization
• Implement schema markup across sitemap, developing workflow and requirements for prioritization and execution across pages
• Oversee backlink strategy, ensuring maximum portfolio coverage, and identifying paid placement requirements; rectify unlinked mentions
• Lead app store optimization (ASO) strategy across 5 NBCU applications; develop workstreams around keyword optimization, A/B testing, event management and campaign landing pages
• Manage organization of up to 4 reports; take ownership and accountability for the delineation of responsibilities, execution of tasks and the overall development of direct reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional business partners (Marketing, Site-Merchandising, Editorial Production, Engineering, UX, and Product) to implement SEO best practices, and leverage cross-functional insights in planning and program development
• Conduct competitive research, benchmarking current strategy and efficacy against industry peers; monitor greater marketplace for emerging trends
• Evaluate business impact through development of KPI reports for both SEO and ASO. Keep management apprised of results and upcoming optimization efforts or mitigation strategies
• Evangelize SEO within the organization and facilitate SEO training sessions to improve cross-functional SEO knowledge and alignment
• Manage 3rd party and SEO agency relationships

Qualifications/Requirements
• 8+ years experience leading Search Engine Optimization strategy
• Passionate and knowledgeable about best practices and latest innovations in technical and on- page SEO
• Expertise in keyword research and analysis, utilizing tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Moz Pro, SEMrush etc.
• Knowledge in relevant programming languages with respect to SEO application, including HTML, Python, XML
• Deep understanding of SEO techniques such as canonicalization, structured data (schema), crawl budget, domain/page authority, content structure, and semantic SEO
• Solid understanding of how SEO techniques affect conversion rates and paid search rankings like Ad Quality Score
• Basic understanding of app store optimization space; experience with specific app store optimizations, a plus
• Excellent organization and communication/facilitation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex concepts for a variety of audiences
• Track record of people management
• Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to coordinate and influence team members from multiple internal departments and external vendors
• Ability to effectively present ideas and communicate with senior leadership
