Senior Director, Technology Planning & Implementation (Hybrid)

Department: Technology Strategy & Planning
Corporate Area: Technology & Operations (T&O)
Status: Regular/Full-time/Exempt
Supervisor: VP, Technology Business Operations

Position Overview:

The Sr. Director, Technology Planning and Implementation is a central point of synchronization for T&O's portfolio of strategic and operational projects and communications to key stakeholders inside and outside of PBS. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and operational doer with superb organization, strong project management, and impeccable communication skills. The Sr. Director partners with stakeholders across PBS to regularly assess operational directives, including the development of T&O's annual roadmap, budget and metrics and tracking the execution and spend of projects throughout the year. The Sr. Director collaborates with T&O's senior leadership team to maximize outcomes across the portfolio, identifying and managing interdependencies among projects while ensuring individual initiatives meet their desired outcomes, support the larger T&O strategies, and are adequately resourced. The Sr. Director develops a coherent, consistent message to ensure the project portfolio supports the long-term strategy, roadmaps, and objectives of PBS.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Communication & Synchronization
• Develop and execute plans for engagement with key stakeholders, including monthly meetings and follow-up communications

• Using the planning and portfolio processes, proactively communicate projects' statuses, flagging interdependencies and other possible conflicts

• Help project teams articulate and communicate the objectives for high-impact projects within the context of the T&O strategy

• Draft and prepare meeting agendas, talking points, presentations, papers, and other written materials

Planning & Finances
• Create and maintain rolling 3-year roadmaps

• Partner with Finance to lead the creation of the T&O budget

• Collaborate with Finance to track and report on performance against budget throughout the fiscal year

Portfolio Management
• Maintain dashboard of initiatives requiring Legal support to ensure adequate resource allocation

• Develop operational calendar, business plans, models, and analysis for new projects and initiatives

• Create, monitor, report on, and assess T&O's portfolio of projects

• Regularly evaluate and report on the portfolio's alignment to strategic goals

• Help develop the business plans/models and analysis for key projects

Requirements for success:
• 7-10 years serving a complex & dynamic organization, high-profile non-profit and/or consultancy firm (2-3 years working with IT or media organizations a strong plus)

• Project management and experience presenting information to executive management essential, PMP preferred

• Demonstrated experience in strategic and business planning

• Knowledge and literacy in the media business across multiple platforms – from broadcast to digital

• Experience preparing executive-level presentations, written materials and talking points.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, MBA preferred

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
