Sr. Director, Technology Business Operations

Department: Technology & Operations

Status: Regular/Full-time/Exempt

The Sr. Director, Technology Business Operations directly supports T&O senior management by managing operations for key projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and operational doer with superb organization, strong project management, and impeccable communication skills. This high impact role will work across all PBS departments to manage and communicate operational directives, research and analyze technology opportunities for PBS and member stations, maintain key data to support corporate initiatives, create and maintain the T&O Operational calendar, provide strategic business analysis, and support projects as assigned. This individual will serve as a thought partner for the Vice President of Technology Business Operations working to ensure optimal strategies and outcomes for the organization and may also represent T&O internally and externally in meetings across the public media system.

Ideal candidates will feel a connection with PBS's public service mission and will be capable of articulating PBS's ongoing mission and vision into sound strategic objectives, partnerships and public media development initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
• Serve as a liaison between the T&O and all PBS departments.

• Support the CTO on projects as needed.

• Support high impact T&O projects; drive and manage full lifecycle of projects.

• Prepare materials for Board meetings.

• Develop operational calendar, business plans, models, and analysis for new projects and initiatives.

• Draft and prepare meeting agendas, talking points, presentations, papers, and other written materials for the CTO.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:
• 7-10 years serving a complex & dynamic organization, high-profile non-profit and/or consultancy firm (2-3 years working with media organizations a strong plus).

• Project management and experience supporting corporate operational initiatives.

• Demonstrated experience in strategic and business planning.

• Data management experience.

• Knowledge and literacy in the media business across multiple platforms – from broadcast to digital.

• Experience preparing executive-level presentations, written materials and talking points.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, MBA preferred.

• Proficiency in all MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

• Passion for public media and deep commitment to media and its ability to improve people's lives.

• Collaborative, team-oriented leader with highly developed relationship building skills; adept as an influencer and consensus builder. Able to quickly gain the trust of others.

• Strong execution skills – an ability to make things happen.

• Goal oriented and willing to proactively take ownership of individual projects to get the job done.

• A keen sense of business judgment and strategic acumen.

• Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analysis skill and planning ability.

• Highly organized and attentive to details.

• Creative problem-solving skills – the ability to identify issues and develop comprehensive plans to resolve them.

• Ability to multi-task and maintain deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills: skilled in crafting verbal and written messages as well as receiving and interpreting communication from others.

• Flexible thinker, good listener, and bridge-builder.

• Strong sense of poise and presence.

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
