Location: Arlington, VA (PBS HQ - Hybrid Eligible)

Position Overview:

The PBS Foundation provides philanthropic support on behalf of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and its member stations. In supporting PBS, the PBS Foundation seeks funding from individuals, foundations, corporations, and select government entities for priority initiatives and carries out such activities as prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and donor stewardship; generation of proposals; grants management; and management of the Foundation's Board of Directors.

The Senior Associate, Principal Giving performs a range of functions in support of the furtherance of PBS Foundation's fundraising efforts, including resource development, research, administrative support, and prospect management, particularly as the organization embarks upon its first major fundraising campaign.

The Senior Associate, Principal Giving is a key member of a dynamic and collaborative team. This position reports to the Vice President, Individual Giving and further supports the work of two (2) Senior Directors, Principal Giving. The ideal candidate is thoughtful, creative and detail-oriented.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Administrative Support, Planning and Logistics: 10%
The principal responsibilities in support of the Vice President, Individual Giving include the following:
• Maintain adequate office supplies and resources (subscriptions, memberships, and licenses).

• Coordinate with the Database Manager to create lists needed for holiday mailings and other targeted communications.

• Support the onboarding process for new team members.

Donor and Prospective Donor Relationship Management: 90%
The principal responsibilities related to the support of two (2) Senior Directors include the following:
• Manage schedules in Outlook, set-up virtual meetings, arrange business travel and process expense reports.

• Build rapport and productive relationships with support teams at the businesses and family offices of donors and prospective donors.

• Create and maintain constituent records in CRM, assist in entering contact reports and other actions, and track and monitor constituent actions against performance metrics.

• Support the work to establish and manage campaign advisory committees.

• Assist in research activities to inform prospect qualification and strategy decisions.

• Assist in preparing materials, including agendas, presentation decks, and proposals for prospective donors.

• Assist in the planning and execution of cultivation activities and other special events.

• As assigned, assist with stewardship reports for individual donors, specifically those with directed or programmatic giving.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:
• Bachelor's degree required, or the equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• At least three to five years of recent non-profit development work experience.

• At least three years of experience using a fundraising donor management software system.

• Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information with a high degree of discretion, judgment, tact, and poise.

• Attention to detail, creative, proactive, organized, and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Consistently demonstrates respect for inclusion, diversity, and ethics.

• Supports the mission of PBS and public media.

• May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

• Limited travel may be required.

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
