Director, Editorial Services & Corporate Communications (Hybrid)

Status: Full-time/Regular/Exempt

Supervisor: Senior Director, Corporate Communications

Position Overview:

The Director of Editorial Services will oversee how the PBS story is told to key audiences and the broader public. Serving as a writer for the corporate communications department, this individual will develop internal and external messaging and materials, while providing strategic oversight of corresponding websites. Along with major reports, including the PBS Stakeholders Report, PBS Budget Narrative, and Trust Survey materials that need to be created annually, there will also be regular drafting and/or editing of products as needed by teams within the department. Other duties to help facilitate the goals and assignments of the communications department will also be a part of this position.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Deliver high-quality content within fast-paced production cycles.

• Coordinating with other internal PBS teams to ensure project goals are achieved.

• Master the PBS Style Guide and brand voice to maintain consistency across all materials distributed from corporate communications.

• Serve as copy editor corporate communications products.

• Draft, edit and post corporate press releases.

• Write and update web content as needed.

• Maintain PBS's boilerplate description.

• Edit and distribute PBS's quarterly fact sheet.

• Work with graphic and video service providers, when needed.

• Be a part of and contribute to cross-functional communications project teams.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success:
• Five to seven years of experience in a similar position, with demonstrated success.

• Excellent writing and story-telling skills with sound editorial judgment.

• Provide copy editing services for a range of document formats, catering to a variety of audiences.

• Provide light formatting services, as needed.

• Expertise in copy editing and familiarity with AP style.

• Understanding usage of corporate style and branding guidelines.

• Ability to meet tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication and writing skills.

• Attention to detail.

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
