Overview and Responsibilities

The Director, TV Music Production leads all aspects of music production activities for Paramount TV Studios in all phases - including script/budgeting, pre-production, production and post-production. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Music Production, you will drive and execute all logistics for music rehearsals, pre-records, shoot dates, post record dates and scoring sessions - working with composers, music supervisors, musical directors, music producers, artists/songwriters and their representatives, to ensure all work takes place within the required parameters.

This role will lead all financial obligations related to each series - including creating/managing music budgets, ensuring payments are completed on time and preparing/reconciling financial reports in coordination with Finance.

The Director will work collaboratively with the Music Department and other PTVS Executives to align strategy and ensure smooth/on-budget execution of music elements across each series, including handling filmmaker relationships and working with key music hires and show personnel.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will work closely with a wide variety of other stakeholders including Filmmakers, Production Crew and Post Personnel, plus PTVS Creative, Production, BA/Legal, Post, Casting/Casting Admin, Finance, Labor and Safety Executives, and applicable Network partners.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
• Expert knowledge of TV music production and its budgetary dimensions is essential – including recording studios/stages, musicians, singers, music/vocal contractors, orchestrators, music preparation, engineers/mixers, and other adjacent personnel.
• Experience budgeting for Television, highly proficient working with pilot/completion, and pattern/amortization parameters.
• Required familiarity with AFM, SAG-AFTRA and IATSE Labor Agreements in order to interpret and maintain guidelines set forth in the respective collective bargaining agreements pertaining to music personnel,
• Understanding of the RTW Agreement and applicable Labor/Safety considerations for Production & Post-Production during Covid-19.
• Works with Music Creatives, Clearance, Legal and BA to align the music department's interactions with each show - offering input in deal making, insights re: budgetary and Labor/logistical considerations, and practical collaboration across the scope of a show's music needs.
• Oversees pre-production rehearsals and pre-recording sessions, preparation of playback tapes and tape dubs as required by production.
• Engages Music/Vocal Contractors, Orchestrators/Arrangers, Conductors, Music Preparation personnel, Consultants, Pro Tools Operators, Engineers, Mixers and other Music Production personnel and negotiates rate on various
• Oversees hires and execution of elements requiring Sideline/On Camera Musicians and Singers. Ensures all singers are cleared through the Screen Actors Guild before employment; determines singers' fees. Provides Casting Administration with required information for SAG Day Player contracts.
• Coordinates the processing, coding and SAP/Fiori approval of all music production invoices for payment. Works with Show Accountants handling music coding/payroll throughout the Production phase.
• Prepares musician, orchestrator, and copyist and Engineer/Mixer payroll reports, forwards to outside payroll company for payment, and inspects the return invoices

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 7 years' experience in music, production and/or TV or film industry
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of MAC computers
