Baseball Communications Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Baseball Communications

Job Classification: Non-exempt

Description: The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Full-Time Baseball Communications Coordinator. This position will report to the Director of Baseball Communications. The Baseball Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Baseball Communications department in all facets of the job, including but not limited to: media relations, player relations, baseball information, media services, and press box operation. This position will be the Club's primary contact for all media credential requests and will be expected to travel on several road trips every season.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and disseminate pregame notes; update statistics, lineups, press clips and press releases
• Represent the PR staff on occasional road trips
• Coordinate all media credential applications and printing
• Assist in facilitating all internal and external player requests
• Prepare stat packets, assist with news releases, and handle daily media written correspondence
• Assist in all aspects of press box operations including daily press box setup
• Assist in writing daily game notes, minor league reports, and postgame notes; includes collecting and transcribing manager and player quotes
• Conduct statistical research projects to support media and Baseball Communications staff
• Manage contacts and distribution lists
• Other communications duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a similar area
• Excellent written, verbal and communications skills
• Professional writing samples required
• Knowledge of AP Style and experience proofreading preferred
• Plans and prioritizes well; strong attention to detail and deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe InDesign. Experience in Adobe Photoshop a plus
• Highly knowledgeable in baseball statistics, terminology and rules
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
• Familiar with baseball statistical databases and search functions
• Previous sports information/media relations experience
