About the role:
The Systems Administrator reports to the Head of Technology for our London studio locations. The role involves actively maintaining existing systems and the implementation of new hardware and software to meet the future needs of this busy and exciting visual effects company.
As Systems Administrator, expect to work with all studio levels/departments in a fast paced environment. The Systems Administrator’s key function is to support a diverse multi-platform network and infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining current and building/deploying new systems and hardware
- Installation of software updates and patches
- 2nd and 3rd line support escalation via ticketing system
- General upkeep of server room and patch panels, including keeping up to date documentation
- Applying authorised configuration changes to core servers and hardware
- Monitoring systems infrastructure to ensure continued healthy operation
- Reporting concerns and issues to the Head of Technology
- Occasional heavy lifting
Required Skills:
- 3+ years Linux experience
- 3+ years Windows experience
- Experience of PC hardware builds, troubleshooting and support
- Experience maintaining large multi-platform environments - ideally mixed Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments
- Knowledge of networking protocols and services, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, VLANS
- Knowledge of file sharing/transfer protocols such as SMB, NFS, FTP
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g. python, bash, tcsh or Powershell)
- Experience of monitoring and supporting backup strategies, including LTO
Preferred Skills:
- Experience maintaining high performance network attached storage environments
- Experience of supporting render farms, Deadline/AWS
- Experience of using configuration management tools such as CFEngine, Puppet, Salt or Ansible
- General understanding of common visual effects packages such as Nuke, Maya, Shotgun and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Knowledge of license server software such as RLM, flexLM

- Strong atttention to detail
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- Able to manage own workload and balance conflicting priorities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
