Digital Producer
Nexstar
Washington, DC
Weekend Editor I, NPR Music (temporary)
OVERVIEW
NPR Music is looking for an editor to fill a temporary position.
NPR Music publishes content in many formats on many platforms. Our team includes critics, podcast hosts, video producers, editors and beyond, covering a wide range of musical genres and backgrounds. The successful applicant should have a strong awareness of contemporary music, the live music and recording industries, and be curious about and love music that comes from many voices and genres; we're not looking for an authority in one genre or beat. A big part of this editor's work at NPR Music will be knowing when and where to look for the right voice to cover a certain musician, song or album.
We are looking for a candidate who can work autonomously through all steps of the editorial process – identifying, assigning, editing and publishing – but knows when to reach out and ask for help when it'll make a story better. Primary responsibilities for this position will include coordinating coverage of developing stories (not breaking news, but not long-lead features) with NPR's news and arts desks. You'll edit text-based reviews, short essays, blog posts and news pieces, and will work with visual and social media editors to coordinate art and promotion of pieces published on NPR.org and other platforms.
The 40-hour position is Wednesday through Sunday. This position is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
Across our organization, we're building a workplace where collaboration is essential, diverse voices are heard, and inclusion is the key to our success.
