Production Librarian (Upcoming Animated Series)

Summary

Nickelodeon is looking for an Animation Librarian! This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of the cataloging of digital production assets generated by an upcoming animated series.

Responsibilities:
• Identify, test, and launch a digital asset management (DAM) system that suits the unique needs of animation production and allows for efficient access across multiple user groups
• Organize, catalog, and apply metadata to a variety of digital production assets within current system, and then in the selected DAM system
• Create a standardized, controlled vocabulary to define elements that are relevant to the subject-specific needs of animation production
• Develop an efficient workflow for migrating legacy production assets to the implemented system and for receiving future assets
• Create and assign permissions for access and use of production assets
• Train key team members and users on the functionality of the implemented system
• Implement file naming conventions for artist asset submissions in order to facilitate ongoing cataloging efficiency and to promote continued ease of access
• Identify inconsistencies and errors in current practices and implement modifications that will result in a global consistency
• Audit system performance and gather team feedback on the usability and functionality of the system. Troubleshoot, problem-solve, and make adjustments as needed
• Establish, document, and communicate policies and procedures for cataloging, preserving, and providing access to production assets
• Develop long-term goals and make recommendations for future use of the system
• Collaborate effectively across various departments to identify priorities, develop policies, implement procedures, and establish goals
• Work closely with technology teams for archiving and data support.
• Partner with ViacomCBS teams and management

Qualifications:
• Basic project management skills
• Basic understanding of available DAM software platforms and their functionality
• Knowledge of digital preservation issues, trends, standards, and best practices
• Ability to create subject specific controlled vocabularies and apply metadata within the selected system
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Experience with and understanding of the animation pipeline and production process
• Ability to adapt to change, remain flexible, and problem solve
