DESCRIPTION:
Nickelodeon News is looking for a Field Producer with great multitasking abilities to cover major stories including breaking news, initiative stories, and special live event projects.
• Able to meet the daily demands of general assignment news in a 24/7 deadline environment
• Must be an exceptional writer who can add, shape or develop scripts for digital or TV quickly and accurately.
• Manage the production team including production of the story, working with a reporter and camera operators to set up interviews, gather video and collect information.
• Arrange interviews and location shots and produce content under strict deadlines.
• Ability to time segments, edit video and review broadcasts to monitor quality against established broadcast and production standards.
• Able to pitch and develop/execute original stories
• Work on live special events
• Manage the field production process
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors' degree in Journalism, or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years' + experience as a reporter, writer, producer and/or editor at a news organization
• Extensive field production experience
• Extensive experience in an editing room
• Strong writing skills, including proven ability to structure script segments of 8-minutes or more
• Production experience in breaking news and feature reporting
• Ability to shoot video and edit
• Must be willing to work any shift including weekends and overnight as this role supports a 24/7 business
• Proven experience in the field, managing story development and leading newsgathering efforts, especially in breaking news.
• Multi-year experience with all levels of output needs and desk operations, specifically in coordination of domestic and international correspondents.
• Strong editorial, logistical and technical skills are essential.
• Able to quickly turn around critical information for air - verifying its accuracy - while simultaneously getting live phone interviews, live video, transmissions and/or taped coverage of the news event.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities under difficult conditions.
