DESCRIPTION:

Nickelodeon is seeking a smart, creative, curious and enterprising Associate Producer/Researcher with strong research skills and solid writing experience to support the VP, News Programming and producer within Nickelodeon News. The ideal candidate will have a firm command of journalistic standards, a keen attention to detail, and excellent newsgathering skills.

This role is responsible for helping produce live and taped interview segments as well as writing and producing day-of-air tape packages. The ideal candidate will have field experience and experience working with high-profile guests. They must also have a strong mastery of visual graphics and elements to support such interviews. Additional duties include:
• Pitch stories and research topics that are beyond the obvious
• Assist Producers with writing questions for anchors for guest segments
• Exercise editorial judgment in selection of content
• Write copy for anchor as well as writing for feature and news packages
• Write banners and quotes during breaking news
• Work with editors to turn around pre-taped segments
• Execute special, feature & recurring segments
• Pulling specific video and soundbites
• Coordinating with correspondents, guests, and anchors to inform them on segment subject matter
• In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and their users (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4+ years work experience in TV news
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deal with intense deadline pressure, and react with smart programming ideas and creative storytelling
• Very strong communication and organizational skills
• You are a self-starter while also taking direction from producers and senior producers
• Strong editorial judgement and excellent writing skills
• Understanding of newsgathering and transmission technology
• Strong research skills and familiarity with public and private records databases, such as Lexis Nexis
• Knowledge and understanding of Rights & Clearances
• Must be willing to work overnights and/or weekends, if needed
