Are you social media and internet savvy and love finding creative ways to get content discovered by the most people possible? Are you passionate about storytelling and know how to earn engagement and reach? A key team member of the TV station's news and digital content staff, this position will work alongside on-air talent, news managers, promotions, and other departments in this exciting and fast-paced role.

Position Summary: The goal of this position is to grow the station's audience on all screens through the use of social media, newsletters, SEO tools, and story sharing. The Social Media Distribution Producer creates daily content for the station's social channels, tracks trending topics to generate story ideas and maximize reach, and identifies high-performing stories for intake from and distribution to sister Nexstar sites. The ideal candidate is a skilled storyteller who understands the nuances in tone for different audiences. They must also be able to learn new tools and techniques and collaborate with reporters, anchors, meteorologists, and members of the digital team to extend the station's initiatives and brand.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements social media strategy across all products
• Manages all social media accounts with understanding of each unique audience
• Executes on growing local newsletter strategy while tailoring to local needs
• Utilizes third-party tools to manage social posts across multiple accounts
• Shares high-performing successes regionally and nationally across Nexstar markets as well as pitches external partners and sites for possible story promotion
• Observes SEO trends locally, regionally and nationally, providing feedback to whole digital team on title tags and trending queries to turn into web (and/or TV) stories
• Sends app alerts and newsletters timed for maximum reach
• Communicates regularly with local newsrooms to leverage unique offerings
• Reports on account and campaign metrics to inform future production strategies

Skill/Experience Requirements
• 2+ years of experience as a social media producer
• Knowledge of fundamental SEO best practices and trends
• Experience with email newsletter management and production
• Clever headline/social post writer that gets readers to click
• Ability to moderate tone voice to fit platform and brand needs
• Strong multi-tasking abilities
• Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
• Knowledge of audience behavior trends and technical ability to affect them
• Ability to monitor and analyze metrics to change strategy as needed
• Knowledge of AP style
• Understanding of effective writing styles for internal and external audiences
• Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
• Regularly meets measurements of success
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere

Typical day

This important member of the digital production team will need to balance daily priorities in story ideas/generation, promotion and distribution, SEO tactics, newsletter product management, and social media. Using native social media platforms and 3rd party social tools this role must maintain awareness of external conversations and manage a strategic variety of posts across all platform accounts through the day while also scheduling content for weekends and off-hours. Regular metric analysis and reporting will result in constant updates to strategy that need to be communicated, likely focusing on updated messaging to different interdepartmental groups weekly. This individual will also play a central role in the execution of our evolving newsletter strategy.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in communications, social media, TV/film, journalism, marketing or equivalent experience may substitute 2+ years' experience as a social media producer.

Training/Equipment: Utilize state-of-the-art web, social media, television technology, video and graphics.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: High-stress environment with deadline pressures. Flexible schedule and occasional overtime.
