Job Description

The Senior Director, Brand Strategy supports the VP, Creative Marketing and Brand Standards and is directly responsible for:
• Developing and implementing an integrated strategic brand awareness plan with marketing, leadership, our agencies, and our station family
• Working with Ad Sales to forge strategic alliances for NN brand impact with advertisers and key partners that enhance and lift bottom-up journalism from our station family and create new revenue streams
• Establishing KPIs with Research and Insights and Ad Sales to measure effectiveness of our media placements and quickly pivot tactics as needed
• Analyzing research, audience feedback, and ratings with an eye to brand integrity
• Managing day to day relationship with agencies (media buyers, creative agencies and more) to ensure real time opportunities are maximized in the moment; serve as chief liaison between VP Creative Marketing and Brand Standards and external agencies; exhibits firm grasp on granular detail for all external creative executions, ensuring maximum effectiveness and best of class standards
• Developing content and brand criteria including Brand Standards Guidebook, marketing collateral materials, upfront presentations, and digital
• Calendarizing long range planning of strategic brand milestones for NewsNation and our station family to ensure seamless integration and maximum impact
• Building alliances with station partners to underscore our bottom-up brand philosophy
• Championing our brand tenants to lift internal culture and employee engagement across the organization
• Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values representation, learning, and a commitment to quality
• Supporting, advancing, and partnering with other Nexstar Media entities as assigned

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree in related field preferred
• A minimum of fifteen years of progressive experience in brand management required; experience at a national television network or national station group highly desirable
• Proven grasp of the changing landscapes of media channels and business and utilizing new technologies to advance organizational impact
• Extensive successful writing and editing experience with a variety of print and digital (e.g., newsletters, magazines, press releases, and annual reports) formats
• Extensive knowledge of options and opportunities to pitch/publicize NewsNation's mission, programs, people, successes, and unique selling proposition/network niche
• In-depth knowledge of brand development and analyses to determine brand performance and competitiveness
• Superior communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to translate information into a meaningful, understandable context and message, regardless of the format (e.g., documents, public speaking situations, presentations, etc.)
• A high level of confidence, integrity, interpersonal skills, and a professional executive presence for effectively interacting with and influencing others, internal and external to the organization, as well as for facilitating meetings
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as the ability to handle complex situations and demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables
• Demonstrated propensity to be creative, collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned accountabilities
• Strong business acumen, negotiation and mediation skills, as well as a demonstrated attention to detail and a focus on achieving quality outcomes. Ability to build/foster relationships
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy, demanding and deadline driven environment
• Demonstrated passion and respect for local news, the First Amendment and quality journalism
• Technical proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to quickly grasp new software as needed; Keynote experience/proficiency a bonus
