The Hill , a division of Nexstar Media Group, is looking for an experienced reporter to cover race and politics.
Th is beat is broad and will encompass action by Congress and the White House that deals with longstanding inequities in American society along racial lines. It will also encompass institutional racism in the United States, and how that affects everything from the courts and policing system to the media and business.
We're looking for a reporter who is good at thinking creatively about story ideas and angles, and who can work with other beat reporters to improve their own coverage. It's a big and exciting beat that can cover a host of issues, ranging from elections to representation to how the government and country is moving forward or backward on racial issues.
You should excel at breaking down complex subjects into scannable stories that are easily read by busy people on the go, but also be ready to dive deep with longer form content as warranted .

Ideal candidates will have these skills and qualifications:
• At least two years of experience in journalism
• Demonstrated strong writing and reporting skills
• Audience -first mindset, including familiarity with digital and social media
• Appetite to tell stories in novel ways to attract new and larger audiences
• Drive to get stories online in a timely fashion, without sacrificing quality
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to build relationships
• Highly resourceful team player, also able to be extremely effective independently
