The Hill is looking for a highly organized leader to manage production, planning and editing of The Hill's print edition.

The print and production editor leads a team of copy editors and designers who design and paginate the print edition and provide important second reads on digital copy 7 days a week. This editor is also responsible for planning publications and will work with top editors to select and place the most impactful stories from a deep news budget.

The print and production editor's ability to collaborate as part of a team is key. They partner with sales to book print editions, track ads and work with press partners to meet deadlines and prepress needs. They will also work with the creative director and designers to assist in laying out print editions and in writing accurate, powerful headlines.

The right candidate knows Adobe Creative Suite, understands the principles of basic news design and can produce pages in Adobe InDesign. They have thorough comprehension of AP style and are skilled in writing impactful headlines.

The job's portfolio also includes maintaining The Hill's style guide and other resources for the staff. The production manager is the authority for the news team's questions about style and sets standards for The Hill in coordination with top leadership.

Top applicants will have a background in editing and page layout; prior management experience is preferred. Passion for and knowledge of US politics and policy is a plus.

Salary range is from $70,000 - $90,000 based on knowledge, skills and experience.
