Job Description
WGN-TV is looking for a scheduler who is responsible for managing schedules for all news employees to ensure all shows and productions are properly staffed including frequent last-minute changes and adjustments.
Outstanding people skills as a prerequisite, and attention to detail a must for this role.
Responsibilities:
• Manage staff scheduling and vacation/sick tracking.
• Manage union requirements for scheduling, pay and paid time off within the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Liaison between payroll to handle, adjust and confirm pay, hours worked and paid time off balances.
• Responsible for maintaining talent coverage for all newscasts and balancing scheduled paid time off.
Qualifications:
• The successful candidate will have over 5 years in broadcasting environments, with at least 3 years in a scheduling role.
• Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work some nights and weekends as needed.
• Workday, union and/or payroll experience helpful.
• Must have an ability to grasp department and company policies, procedures and operations.
• A two- or four-year degree in a related field is required.
• Confidentiality regarding newsroom operations discussed with newsroom management is crucial.
