Job Description

Nexstar Media Inc., America's largest local broadcasting company, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President/General Manager to lead its broadcasting, digital and mobile operations in the Harlingen, Brownsville, McAllen, Texas DMA, (#85) following the retirement of 37-year broadcast veteran Bill Jorn on 7/1/21 and who has been in his leadership role with Nexstar since 2014.

Nexstar operates two network affiliations, NBC and CBS on KVEO, serving the Rio Grande Valley. The news team produces 49 hours of news and local content a week across the two stations, more than any competitor in the market. As leaders in the Rio Grande Valley for its expansive and historical community service, KVEO has been highly recognized for its live productions of the McAllen Christmas Parade, 4th of July parades, Valley-wide hurricane relief projects, food drives, Christmas toy drives, COVID-19 awareness, and vaccination campaigns. Community forums, town hall meetings and live local and statewide political debates have consistently provided for real-time viewer involvement and feedback. Requirements for the Vice President and General Manager position:
• Minimum of five years of experience as a successful General Manager for a commercial broadcast station.
• Significant sales management experience in leading and driving revenue growth in broadcast and digital. Special emphasis on New Local Direct revenue growth, including self-created non-traditional revenue success and sports and community sponsorships.
• A proven track record providing professional, demonstrative leadership and the ability to in develop a leadership team and promote collaboration and teamwork among all station departments.
• The vision and ability to enact short-term and long-term plans for the development of the stations' digital and mobile platforms.
• Track record of success in maintaining a focus on the bottom line.
• Broad range of programming experience with an emphasis on localism is essential.
