Job Description
The Assistant Chief Engineer manages the broadcast maintenance employees in performing proper maintenance of broadcast equipment and systems. Manages transmitter facilities. Oversee Engineering projects. Ensures proper installation, support and maintenance of all broadcast equipment and systems, and related software. Ensures the latest company, and industry standard IT security measures are maintained across all platforms. Keeps up to date with new technology and makes recommendations regarding its suitability for application. Plans and manages technical projects, including capital projects, and assigns project engineers. Ensure projects are completed according to station documented standards and meets all deadlines. Ensures maintenance staff are trained to support systems. Works directly with other key department managers to support their operations. FCC compliance.
• RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the maintenance of all technical facilities including complex broadcast production equipment systems as well as computer and data network assets in the Broadcast Engineering environment.
• Provide direction and oversight for repairs, maintenance, and new systems installations.
• Design, development and deployment of broadcast production equipment systems as well as computer and Network assets within the Broadcast environment.
• Training and ongoing education of operations staff in broadcast and production systems.
• Work with system vendors and technology partners to secure, install and configure equipment and software, solve system problems and implement solutions and upgrades.
• Responsible for overseeing routine maintenance, annual inspections and audits of all physical, plant & building systems.
• Work along with the IT department to support and maintain the station LAN / WAN.
• Manage costs, including labor, and operating expenses.
• • REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• The ideal candidate should have experience in broadcast system engineering as well as have experience working in live broadcast environments.
• Experience with systems such as Ross, Sony, Utah Scientific, Florical, RTS, Bit Central, Evertz, Cobalt, among others. Knowledge, understanding, practical experience with computer networking and security best practices.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Windows, Linux and MAC operating systems preferred. Must be a television system problem-solver and troubleshooter for live events and broadcasts.
• Flexible work schedule required, shift may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Must be able to lift 60lbs.
salary range: the starting salary of this position is at least 110k.
