The News Anchor/Multi-Media Reporter presents news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers. We are looking for a journalist who can handle hard news, features, breaking news and ad lib situations. This position requires regular reporting and anchoring, and daily contributions to our digital platforms. You must be reliable, have a great attitude, and be a team player who collaborates with news managers, producers and colleagues. A strong commitment to involvement in the community and storytelling is a must! You'll join a strong newsroom filled with talented people and live in a great community. Wichita is an underrated city with great restaurants and nightlife, a strong arts and culture scene and very little traffic.

Additional Job Description

Produce content for multiple platforms, including TV, internet, mobile, etc.

Work with management to enterprise and develop stories daily

Demonstrate compelling storytelling by shooting and editing stories, using dynamic live shots and stand-ups, utilizing creative graphics on multiple platforms
Organize material, determine angle or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards

Gather and verify information regarding stories through interview, observation and research

Build network of sources who supply information that allows the Company to stay ahead of its competitors

Participate in promotional activities and make regular community and public appearances

Play an active role in the community

Interact with viewers/users on social media sites.

Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education)

Two (2) years television anchoring or reporting experience required

Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation

Strong reporting skills

Fluent in English, bilingual in Spanish a plus

Understand importance of social media

Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills

Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
Operate newsroom computer systems, cameras and editing equipment

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

High stress environment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required on an occasional basis. The news anchor reporter must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the news anchor reporter must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
